Why We're Unique

Mentors Model & Coach Comprehensive Performance

Faculty Mentors are teachers who stay with your student through all four years at Everest. Your student’s mentor is an academic advisor, personal coach, college counselor, and overall cheerleader for your child. These strong, constant relationships provide each student with personal attention, structure, continuity, standards and resources.

Mentors & Students Stay in Sync

With a maximum of 18 students, each mentor meets regularly with their students:

  • Daily:  10 minutes at end of each day to touch base, motivate and keep things on track
  • Weekly: The Connections Course; a 2-hour Thursday morning meeting designed to support and enhance each student’s learning experience. Connections is where mentors and students meet to address four broad themes:  academic literacy, teen issues, community building, and preparation for the future.

Students focus on clarifying, expanding and achieving their goals, as well as having a “safe space” to discuss emerging issues and working out how to meet the real challenges in their lives and education.

Connections is on Fridays 1:30-2:35pm

Students Help Plan Their Education

Personalized Learning Plans (PLPs) are developed by each student in coordination with his or her Faculty Mentor and parents or guardians, to develop a detailed, individual plan for being accepted at a four year college. PLPs are dynamic plans that evolve as the student grows and gains knowledge and experience. By developing and completing their own PLP, students take personal ownership of accomplishing their learning, exploring their interests, and developing their aspirations.
