Kyle Moyer

Mr. Moyer started his journey to Everest in Ohio, where he was born and raised.  He had his first taste of international experience after a fortuitous family move to Hong Kong in his late teenage years.  He returned to the United States to study physics and mathematics at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL.  Mr. Moyer was lucky enough to meet his wife there who shared his passions and life philosophies.  Together they married and moved to West Sumatra, Indonesia where they taught English to university students through the Volunteers in Asia program.

Upon returning to the US in 2005, Mr. Moyer was hired by Summit to help their 9th graders in academic and mathematics support and later, Biology.  Seeing the powerful educational experiences there showed him that he needed better training to achieve his goal of becoming a teacher of his favorite discipline, mathematics.  He entered and graduated form the Stanford Teacher Education Program in 2007.

For the past two years, Mr. Moyer has been teaching at Colegio Americano de Quito in Ecuador.  After this most recent international experience, he is now back in the Bay Area (indefinitely this time) to help make Everest a stellar learning environment and help its students achieve success in all facets of their lives.  When Mr. Moyer is not working towards this, he enjoys traveling (in California for now), walking his dog Moe, cooking, reading, movies, sports, and of course...doing math!

"I wanted to teach at Everest because I thought it was a terrific opportunity to engage students in powerful learning.  Having experienced different several different high schools, I truly believe that Everest presents a unique educational opportunity.  We have a diverse group of students and a terrific faculty team all working together towards the same goals of growing as individuals and a community.  We are thoughtful about all of the decisions we make and continuously reflect on their impact so that we can keep improving.  The faculty has set high expectations for ourselves and our students.  I am so happy to be a mathematics teacher here to help all of our students realize they can "get math" and that the concepts and skills have direct application to their future success.  I can't wait to see where our students are in four years as they walk across the stage to receive their diplomas.  I can say without a doubt that they will be prepared to be thoughtful contributing members of society and ready for the university level."
