Intersession
Intersession Information – 2009-10

Intersession is one of the most exciting and innovative aspects of Everest's academic program. For those who have not yet experienced it, the Intersession is comprised of two, four-week sessions during the school year when students engage in a full-time course or experience. Intersession courses this year will include students from Summit as well, so students will have the opportunity to meet their peers from our larger Summit and Everest community.

With over 500 students, the process for scheduling and coordinating the Intersession can be complicated. Please help us to ensure that everything runs smoothly by thoroughly reading the following documents and adhering to all of the requests and deadlines. Many thanks for your cooperation. We look forward to another successful and exciting Intersession!

General Intersession Information

Session I:

January 4 – January 29 (No class on January 18)

Session II:

May 17 – June 11 (No class on May 31)

§ Student must take the same class for both Sessions I & II.

§ All courses meet each day and most are for the entire day during both sessions (this year we are introducing a few ½ day courses where students will select a morning class and an afternoon class).

§ Students and parents have input into which classes or experiences students want, but the school will make all final determinations based on the following criteria:

On-time – Students who submit forms on time will have priority over those who do not.

Grade Level – Placement will be made using a seniority system with seniors receiving highest priority and then in descending order.

Meet college requirements – All students are placed to ensure they have successfully completed college entrance requirements.

§ Only those courses marked with UC-VPA will be recorded on student’s transcripts. All other courses and experiences may be written about in personal essays or recorded as experiences, but will not appear on the official transcript.
